Integra service depends heavily on how yours is configured. CVT-equipped cars need Acura HCF-2 fluid — a specific continuously-variable transmission fluid that is not interchangeable with conventional ATF. Manual-transmission cars need gearbox fluid on schedule, an item most owners never think about until shifting gets notchy.
The Type S uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with a six-speed manual. Like every turbo in the lineup, it depends on full-synthetic oil changed on time.

If your Integra has the CVT: it uses Acura HCF-2, a fluid engineered specifically for continuously-variable transmissions. A CVT does not have clutch packs and gears in the conventional sense — it uses a belt running between variable-diameter pulleys, and the fluid must provide a very particular coefficient of friction for that belt to grip without slipping. Substituting a conventional ATF, or a 'universal' CVT fluid, is one of the more reliable ways to destroy a transmission that was otherwise fine.
If your Integra has the six-speed manual: the gearbox has its own fluid, and almost nobody changes it. Manual transmission fluid degrades and picks up metal from normal synchro wear. The symptom is a gearbox that gets progressively notchy going into second or third when cold. Fresh fluid frequently fixes it — worn synchros do not fix themselves. Since we already have the car on the lift for an oil service, ask us to check it.
Clutch condition is worth monitoring on manual cars too, especially if the car is driven in Route 22 traffic. We can check pedal free play and engagement point and tell you honestly where it stands.

The Integra uses Acura's Maintenance Minder rather than fixed mileage intervals. The system calculates remaining oil life from actual driving conditions and displays a main code plus sub-codes. Schedule when remaining oil life reaches 15 percent, and do not let it reach zero.
