The critical item on a current-generation RDX is oil service on schedule with full-synthetic oil. The 2.0T VTEC turbo relies on engine oil to cool and lubricate the turbocharger bearings. Running past 0% remaining oil life on a turbocharged engine is the most common cause of premature turbo failure we see — a four-figure repair created by skipping a routine service.
RDX models with SH-AWD also need rear differential fluid at sub-code 6, and all four tires should match in brand, model and tread depth.

A turbocharger spins at extraordinary speed and runs extremely hot. Its bearings are lubricated and cooled by the same engine oil circulating through the rest of the motor. In a naturally aspirated engine, oil past its service life causes gradual wear. In a turbocharged engine, it causes the oil to coke — to bake onto the hot bearing surfaces and restrict flow.
Once that starts, the turbo is on a countdown. The symptoms owners report are a whine that wasn't there before, a loss of boost, or blue smoke on startup. By that point the repair is a turbocharger replacement, not an oil change.
The practical guidance is simple: service the RDX at 15% remaining oil life, never let it reach 0%, and use the Acura-specified full-synthetic oil rather than a conventional or blend product. The cost difference between correct oil and cheap oil across the life of the vehicle is trivial compared to one turbocharger.
